Starkey Livio Direct Streaming to Android Coming November 1, 2019

The latest Starkey Livio hearing aids will be one of the first products on the market to offer direct streaming through bluetooth low energy.

On September 4, an article published on androidcentral.com stated that the new Android 10 operating system would be the first to allow direct streaming through hearing aids. Android has been promising that it has been in the works for several years now.It appears that it is finally here!

Later that day, Starkey put out an announcement that their Livio line of hearing aids will be offering this functionality starting on November 1, 2019. This is just one more feature that this truly connected product has to offer.

Although Android 10 allows for this functionality using the Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) protocol, there are hardware requirements to allow this to work. That means that most Android phones currently on the market will not be able to offer this functionality. At the moment, only the following phones are capable of offering android direct streaming: Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 3a XL. We anticipate this functionality to expand rapidly to other new Android phone offerings.
